Avali are a fictional species of small nomadic raptor-like bird aliens, with a short stature, four large ears and advanced technology. They originated from the videogame Spore as a player created species, where it gained much popularity. The species was expanded upon with a mod for the game Starbound, at which point the lore was expanded and the species became independent from any particular creator or game. The Avali’s lore places them in a radically different environment, far outside of what we would consider habitable, this environment and their unique biology were taken into consideration as when their culture, technology, and society were being created. The Avali also possess very advanced technology, with virtual reality, rapid 3D printing, and cybernetic augmentation commonplace in the fictional Avali society. The Avali is an open species, meaning that anyone can make an Avali character, or use Avali in their art or games, creators can use as much or as little of the lore as they want.
The Avali's homeworld, Avalon, is an icy moon of a gas giant outside of the "Goldilocks zone" of its parent star, meaning it only has about 1/4 the gravity of earth and is around -50°F (-45°C). Avalon's surface is a mixture of rocky icy rocks, liquid ammonia oceans, although a large portion of its surface is covered in shifting sheets of ammonia ice above the liquid ammonia oceans. Its atmosphere is composed primarily of methane, nitrogen, and hydrogen gasses, and is around 1.5 as dense as earth’s.
The Avali are bipedal and are covered in a layer of colorful feathers, which like earth birds provide insulation against heat and cold, and allow for flight on their homeworld Avalon, however on worlds with higher gravity or thinner atmospheres, they can only make controlled glides. Unlike life on earth, the Avali use liquid ammonia in place of water, which allows them to survive unaided on worlds outside of human’s habitable zone. Avali have large, but relatively unfocused eyes designed for low-light environments, with their primary sense being sound using their four large, independent ears.
Weaponry
![]() | Avali use melee weapons with rapid 3D printing technology to create an aerogel like crystalline blade at the push of a button, as well as compact personal railguns. |
Augmentation
![]() | Avali technology allows a variety of physical and mental augmentation, including replacement/upgrade limbs, virtual/augmented reality implants, and neural jacks to seamlessly control drones and spaceships. |
Spacecraft
![]() | Avali spacecraft are controlled by the pilots neural jack, removing the need for windows and allowing them to be highly maneuverable |
Avali still poses a very nomadic culture, their settlements are made of fabric tents to protect against the wind of Avalon’s tundras, and their possessions are designed to be light and portable. Due to their keen hearing, most Avali art is focused around music and sound, and their clothes and tents usually use bright high contrast colors.
Protogens are an artificial species of cybernetically enhanced bipedal raptors designed to work in harsh environments. The Protogens most notable feature is their face visor, which displays their face in a manner similar to a PC monitor or TV screen. The Protogen’s cybernetic enhancements allow them to work in the vacuum of space without a suit, and many come equipped with tools or additional augmentation. The Protogen are a prototype of the more advanced Primagen species, however the Primagens are a closed species meaning that you cant “legally*” create a Primagen character without the creator’s permission.
Protogens are created in a lab, where the organic parts of their bodies are grown and once ready their cybernetics programming is added. Protogens are around 40% artificial, with their upper legs, chest plates, shoulders and visors being the most prominent. The visor is actually composed of small nanites, allowing them to open their mouths, digest food, and even change the visor's shape completely in addition to displaying their regular facial expressions. Protogens limbs are modular, letting them customize themselves to fit their environment.
*to my knowledge there aren't any actual consequences for making an illegal Proto/Primagen, although some less than reputable individuals may give you trouble for it.
Sergals are a fictional species of shark-like bipedal fured aliens, and are one of the three main species of the fictional world of Vilous. Their design takes inspiration from several real life animals, such as sharks, rabbits, and kangaroos, although they are not a hybrid species. Sergals mostly have calm and easygoing personalities, and rarely hold grudges, although they can be somewhat simpleminded compared to other races in the Vilous world.
![]() | Sergals stand on average around 6 and a half feet tall, and are the fastest and strongest on average of the Vilous races. Sergals possess several regional variants, mainly differing in height and fur color, although each region has also developed its own culture. |

Synths are a fictional species of androids primarily with a bipedal reptilian design. Synths are an entirely open species, meaning that anyone can create a synth character with as much or as little accuracy to the given lore, and they can be included anyones fictional universe.
Synths are entirely artificial, with mechanical muscles, strong skin, an A.I. brain, and personal nanites. Synths are incredibly modular, they can change their color, body parts, size and even swap out their entire bodies with ease. Although synths can customize themselves to appear however they want, the majority of synths use bipedal and reptile-like parts.
Due to their extreme versatility, Synths can perform almost any job imaginable, however there are jobs that you find synths in more often
